Back Up safely and securely without paying the enemy!

Google, Apple, Drop Box and the other big providers offer a range of Back up options to keep all our photo's documents etc safe from the inevitable disaster of a computer or phone crashing or being lost or stolen and losing all our stuff. If we haven't had this experience we have certainly been lucky, personally I've had it happen a couple of times. I began with using one of the free options which gives you a small amount of space that I figured would cover the most important things. The problem with this thinking is that when using the paid options with large amounts of space (I've now got 6 Terra Bytes) it's possible to set up so everything off every device you own is automatically backed up. With the free or paid small space options instead due to lack of space you need to manually choose what you consider is important and then manually back up. Most of you will already see the issue with this, sadly I trusted myself way too much and paid for it when my computer crashed and lost everything. It turns out I hadn't done such a great job as I presumed I would. Hard lesson learnt.

So I set to investigate the best paid option in terms of price, security and for me EASE OF USE I wanted to easily set it to back up and forget it. One final thing if it was an option I'd prefer not to pay the corporations if there was an option without having to sacrifice the other things I wanted. I was about to discover a shocking truth that made me not want to use any of the regular providers when I discovered they gave themselves similar powers to social media where if they didn't like the content you backed up (yes they look at it) they could remove or just close down your entire account and they have done to 10s of millions of people. Fortunately I found a solution but before we get to that check out some of the terms and conditions of the big guys below.

It turns out if you save content that for example conflicts with mainstream media medical narrative or maybe you save a video that has some copyright music playing in the background or any number of perfectly innocent infractions of arbitrary ever changing rules you are at risk of losing everything. I was incredibly frustrated until a friend told me about a decentralised private company that offered a better version where your content wasn't even looked at let alone censored and taken down. It is super easy to use, cheaper and the bit I loved best, they pay you for referrals meaning we can all get it for free just by telling others, which is something I do anyway. I really wish I had auto back up of all my devices years ago but next time I lose my data it's one thing I won't have to regret ever again. The Documents were bad enough with the huge amounts of time and data but somehow it's the photo's that hurt the most. So check this out and join me in sticking the finger up to you know who https://decentralize.gotbackup.com
